Comeback Season is a mental health training program for youth sports coaches, developed by Colorado Clinical Consultants to meet the requirements of Colorado's Alyssa's Act (SB26-060). It equips coaches with the knowledge to recognize and respond to the mental health effects that can follow a concussion — helping close the gap between “push through it” locker-room culture and the support young athletes actually need.

Built by a licensed clinical supervisor with 15+ years in behavioral health and a former Division I athlete, the program translates real clinical expertise into training that's credible to coaches and practical to deliver — whether for a single team, a full district, or statewide rollout.

Coach Mental Health Training: How Colorado Clinical Consultants Can Contribute
Alyssa's Act requires every coach of a youth athletic activity in Colorado — public and private schools, clubs, leagues, and recreation facilities — to complete a biennial mental health education course covering a coach's impact on athlete mental health, a wellness framework for youth athletes, stress/anxiety/depression, trauma, substance abuse, and suicide prevention. With the law taking effect August 12, the work now shifts to implementation: building training that is clinically sound, credible to coaches, and deliverable at the scale this mandate requires.

Cox, MA, LPC, LAC, has 15+ years as a licensed clinician and is qualified under Colorado's Mental Health Sunset Act to provide clinical supervision, having completed 21 hours of supervisor-specific training (Supervisor I and Supervisor II) in addition to the required post-degree clinical experience.
